Ever had one of those days at work when you know you have been misrepresented and treated unfairly by someone?  Maybe you had an idea and told your boss, and it was presented as their own.  Or perhaps a co-worker made a mistake and blamed you for it.  What about being maliciously lied on and fired for no good reason or forced to take a severance package.  These are all very real scenarios.  And now the big one, passed over for the promotion you worked super hard for and know you deserved but went to someone else.

How did being passed over for promotion make you feel?  Embarrassed, humiliated, helpless, hopeless, angry…it is just not right.  I know what that is like, I have been there, and to be honest with you everyone at some point in their career’s experiences at least one of those situations—but being passed over for promotion really hurts!  So, what do you do?  Do you storm out and never come back? –these are unprecedented times when it comes to jobs and career opportunities because of the pandemic.  Do you start sending angry emails to everyone…not a good idea?  Set up meetings with your superiors to voice your concerns?  Yes, concrete feedback is important, but the truth is you still must now wait for the next round of promotions.
